Meet the MSCM Program Co-Directors
Terry Esper
Dr. Terry L. Esper is an Associate Professor of Logistics in the Department of Marketing and Logistics at the Fisher. Esper has previously served as the Oren Harris Endowed Chair of Logistics and Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management (SCM) at the University of Arkansas, Executive Director of the Walton College SCM Research Center, and was a SCM professor at the University of Tennessee.
Esper has published several articles on strategic SCM topics in leading outlets. Topical themes include studies on supply chain strategy, relationship management, customer service, online retail, leadership, and corporate culture. Esper is also an Associate Editor for the Journal of Business Logistics, and the Journal of Supply Chain Management.
Esper is a member of Board of Directors of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP). Esper is also a resident Educational Advisor to several companies in the pharmaceutical and personal care industry, to include Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Bristol Myers Squibb, Eli Lilly, and Estee Lauder. He serves on the Board of Directors of CBUS Retail, a Columbus, OH-based retail industry think tank, and is on several academic Advisory Boards. Esper also speaks at corporate events worldwide and does regular executive-level educational sessions. These activities have allowed for regular educational engagements with companies such as Walmart, Procter & Gamble, JB Hunt, Tyson Foods, Unilever, Kellogg, Nationwide Insurance, Apple, Lowe’s, and the US Department of Defense.

John Gray
John Gray is a professor of operations and business analytics. His research interests include examining risks and challenges in global sourcing decisions, and developing processes to improve decision making. Prior to pursuing his PhD, he worked for eight years in operations management at Procter & Gamble.
Dr. Gray’s research has been published in top multi-disciplinary management journals, including Decision Sciences, Management Science and Organization Science; and top operations and supply chain journals, including the Journal of Operations Management, the Journal of Supply Chain Management, and Production and Operations Management. He has also received substantial external funding, including being co-PI of a $1.7 million two-year contract with the FDA.
In August 2022, he began a part-time role as a consultant for the Office of Science and Technology Policy in the Executive Office of the President (EOP) of the United States. He is a member of the Pandemic Preparedness Team, advising them and others in the EOP on issues related to pharmaceutical supply chains.
