Created to support leading-edge research, teaching, and program development at The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business, the Neil Klatskin Chair in Finance and Real Estate honors the memory of Neil Klatskin, a 1982 alumnus and son of longtime university and college supporters Charles and Lynne Klatskin.
A $1.5 million gift from Mr. and Mrs. Klatskin created the endowed faculty chair. The inaugural holder of the chair is Itzhak (Zahi) Ben-David, associate professor of finance and real estate at Fisher College of Business, a top-ranked business school. Ben-David has amassed an exceptional record as a thought leader in his field, publishing in top-tier journals. He was recently appointed as a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research and as the academic director of the Center for Real Estate Education and Research at Fisher. Ben-David is also recognized as an inspirational teacher and mentor to the college’s students.
“Charlie and Lynne Klatskin’s dedication to our college has honored the memory of their son by inspiring generations of students and faculty. We are incredibly moved and forever grateful for their wonderful support and generosity,” said Christine A. Poon, dean and John W. Berry, Sr. Chair in Business at Fisher. “We couldn’t be more proud that Dr. Ben-David, one of Fisher’s rising stars, has been appointed to the chair.”
The Neil Klatskin Chair in Finance and Real Estate will be housed within the Department of Finance, adding to the Klatskin family legacy at Fisher. The Neil M. Klatskin Memorial Scholarship in Real Estate has supported the education of more than 30 students. Mr. and Mrs. Klatskin also established the Neil M. Klatskin Conference Room and the Neil M. Klatskin Collaborative and Learning Resource Corridor at Fisher in memory of their son who passed away in 1989.
Charles Klatskin serves the university as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council at Fisher and The Ohio State University Foundation Board of Directors. He is the founder and chairman of the Charles Klatskin Company, the commercial real estate brokerage, development, and management firm in Teterboro, N.J.
“The legacy of the Klatskin family at The Ohio State University and within the real estate industry is one of great meaning and impact,” said Ben-David, whose research focuses on real estate markets, corporate finance, and behavioral finance. “It’s my great honor to be a steward of that legacy as the Neil Klatskin Chair in Finance and Real Estate.”
