Student Engagement
Meeting the Need for Trained and Prepared Risk Experts
We are committed to providing students, faculty and Risk Institute members with unique experiences and opportunities to network and engage with each other.
As part of our mission, we are focused on providing students with the curricular and educational resources to be successful risk leaders, practitioners and risk-aware business professionals. Undergraduate and graduate students at Fisher College of Business have meaningful opportunities to engage, participate and gain relevant risk experience through The Risk Institute activities.
Collaboration with Student Organizations
Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS) is an international professional fraternity organized to promote, encourage and sustain student interest in insurance, risk management and actuarial science as professions. As the newly re-chartered Alpha Chapter, GIS students are trained to have a well-rounded understanding of risk threats and opportunities and are able to guide their future companies through obstacles with capability and confidence.
For questions regarding membership, please contact President Manuel Goyonaga-Zambrana.
Student Testimonials
The Risk Institute has given Gamma Iota Sigma a stable foundation and home base at The Ohio State University. Without The Risk Institute, Gamma Iota Sigma would not have an advocate on campus who is constantly providing new opportunities and encouragement.
From experiential learning opportunities to conversations with risk practitioners, The Risk Institute was the highlight of my graduate business education at Fisher.
