Two years after partnering to create a program designed to empower local business owners, Fisher College of Business and Columbus City Council are celebrating the launch of the program’s first success — Mod Squad, a handyman service for the central Ohio community.

Ohio State and City of Columbus help launch Mod Squad, new handyman service. Mod Squad is a product of the C-Biz program. Launched in 2016, C-Biz is a partnership between Columbus City Council and Ohio State and Fisher designed to connect established, small and minority-owned businesses with students who can provide consulting and analytical services.

Rebuilding Together was one of the two small and minority-owned establishments that took part in a city-funded Ohio State University pilot for a program called C-Biz. Students at the school's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship did a marketing study.

Connor Scholars putting social entrepreneurship skills to work across the globe
Thanks to support from Chris (BA ’78) and Sara Connor and the Connor Family Scholars Fund, 33 Fisher students spent two weeks in Africa, Asia and Europe as part of Fisher’s Global Projects Program: Nonprofit working on challenges ranging from improving outreach for people with physical and mental disabilities in India, to growing a local music incubator in South Africa.

A generous commitment of $17 million by the Keenan Family Foundation has enabled The Ohio State University Max M. Fisher College of Business to strengthen its commitment to entrepreneurship. The Keenan Center for Entrepreneurship will focus on cultivating students’ entrepreneurial skill sets and create an enriched extracurricular experience around entrepreneurship.
