Leading from the Front: Essential Skills for Emerging Leaders
A dynamic, two-day leadership development program designed to equip new and aspiring leaders with the tools they need to succeed. Participants will master core leadership fundamentals, including communication, trust-building, and team motivation, while learning how to manage conflict and engage their teams effectively. Program Faculty
Ty Shepfer is a Senior Lecturer of Management and Human Resources at the Max M. Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. He is also the Director of the Honors Cohort Program and the Academic Director of the Master in Human Resource Management Program. He completed a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a Master's degree in Labor and Human Resources at Ohio State. He also obtained a Certificate of Leadership from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business in 2019, a 14-month program.
Prior to returning to Ohio State in 2015, Ty worked at Royal Dutch Shell holding various strategic HR positions in Houston, Texas, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and New Orleans, Louisiana.
Ty teaches Business Environment and Skills which is part of the core business curriculum at the Fisher College reaching almost 2,500 students each academic year. He also teaches HR Strategic Management, Compensation & Benefits, and two Leadership & Teamwork Courses. The Honors Cohort Program, of which Ty leads, is Fisher’s preeminent leadership development program.
Ty has served on the Fisher College's Alumni Board since 2009, is a board member for the nonprofit organization, GROW, and is an advisor to several organizations. He also provides executive coaching for select clients.
Ty won the Pace Setter Undergraduate Award for Teaching in 2017, The University Career Services Award in 2018 and was named as the Fisher College of Business Inaugural Engie-Axiom Teaching Fellow in 2019, a three-year appointment awarded to one faculty member in the Management & Human Resources department.
Ty is an avid runner and has completed eight marathons. He also enjoys biking, reading, food, and traveling to new places.
All cancellations and transfers must be received in writing. Submit your request via email to Jennie McAndrew at mcandrew.28@osu.edu with the name of the program, followed by “cancellation” or “transfer” in the subject line.
- Cancellations must be made at least thirty (30) days prior to the first day of the program in order to be eligible for a full refund.
- Cancellations must be made at least fourteen (14) days prior to the first day of the program in order to be eligible for a 50% refund.
- Any cancellations made less than fourteen (14) days prior to the first day of the program will forfeit the registration fee.
- If you for any reason are unable to attend the program, please consider sending someone in your place. Participants can transfer their registration to someone else within their organization at no charge up to 24 hours before the first day of the program.
