
Kay Smith
Background
Kay Smith is a senior specialist in the Office of ACCESS at The Ohio State University's Max M. Fisher College of Business, dedicated to enhancing student academic success and fostering alumni engagement. In her role, Kay collaborates with key partners to provide strategic oversight and manage the end-to-end student experience for Fisher students. She focuses on guiding students as they begin their journey at Fisher, equipping them with resources and programs throughout their academic careers, and fostering community and connection as they transition to alumni.
Kay joined Fisher in 2018 as a program coordinator and later transitioned into a dual role as program manager. In her previous role, she delivered experiential leadership development through coaching and facilitating workshops for the Fisher Leadership Initiative (FLI), serving both internal university stakeholders and external organizational partners. Additionally, Kay contributed to DEI initiatives as a Special Projects lead under the guidance of Dr. Cynthia Turner, associate dean of access, engagement and outreach, where she supported programming and events aimed at fostering personal and professional growth for diverse populations within Fisher.
Kay has been an active member of various Fisher committees, advocating for staff and enhancing the college’s culture. She is a certified executive and organizational coach through Columbia University’s renowned certification program and was honored with the Coykendale Rising Star Award in 2019.
