The running back, actor, and entrepreneur is now an educator at Fisher College of Business, too — and he might be benefiting just as much as his students are.

The Fisher Leadership Initiative (FLI) has launched Lead Read Today, a new platform dedicated to advancing the study and practice of principled leadership.

Juan Tramontin, a logistics management student with an engineering minor, is one of four Ohio State students named University Innovation Fellows, a highly-selective program that empowers student change-agents to increase campus engagement with innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity and design thinking. They are part of a cohort of 258 students from 64 schools in nine countries.

Like most entrepreneurs, Laura McLaughlin identified a problem and wanted to solve it. Equipped with a solid academic foundation, she enlisted the help of The Ohio State Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) to turn her idea — a mobile app to help combat infant mortality — into a reality.

While some college students have hit the Suncoast with the beach in mind, a group of students from Fisher College of Business are giving up their beach time — to give back instead. 

The Alleviating Poverty Through Entrepreneurship (APTE) Summit has connected students at Fisher and Ohio State with change leaders from around the world to explore ways to put business education to work in making positive impacts in communities near and far.

Recognizing the outstanding achievement, leadership and service from its undergraduate students, faculty, staff and alumni, Fisher College of Business recently honored the recipients of the 2018 Pace Setters Awards.

Fisher College of Business student Sonal Gupta has created an email network to ignite an important social discussion among men and women.

Fisher Ink, the college's official literary magazine, profiles two undergraduate organizations that are providing financial services to improve lives throughout Columbus. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program and Scarlet and Grey Financial provide workshops to help teach financial stability to young adults and low-income families.

Fisher's Master of Business Logistics Engineering (MBLE) program recently hosted its first-ever Networking and Leadership Night, which provided an opportunity for students to hear guest speakers and interact with business leaders.

Fisher College of Business students worked on a semester-long clean energy choice project alongside the Ohio Environmental Council to help consumers understand sustainable energy choices and choose a renewable energy supplier.

Highlighting the exciting work that is being conducted around principled leadership at Fisher, the college recently met with alumni and friends in Naples, Florida, as part of its annual Winter College event.

Led by world-class faculty researchers and innovative graduate student programming, Fisher is taking steps to blend and prepare students with the business insights and STEM skills they need to succeed as future leaders.

Fisher's Black MBA Association (BMBAA) hosted its annual Legends Lecture Series throughout February, providing faculty, staff, and graduate and PhD students an opportunity to engage with leaders who bring an element of diversity to business as well as unique career and life experiences. 

Opportunities to experience business on a global scale remains a critical part of the student experience for undergraduate and graduate students at Fisher. Madeline Furash, a fourth-year student and member of Fisher’s Honors Cohort program, shared a recap of the program’s recent International Expedition to Brazil.

Fisher College of Business was among the schools highlighted by Poets&Quants as one that is ready to climb in the rankings and generate greater student interest in the coming year.
