Applying and Deadlines

One of the basic requirements for admission to Fisher's graduate programs is the completion of a four-year bachelor’s degree or its equivalent prior to matriculation. The Ohio State University does not recognize a three-year bachelor’s degree as comparable to a four-year  degree. To determine if you meet the degree requirements for The Ohio State University, contact the Office of Graduate and Professional Admissions at gradadmissions@osu.edu.

You are required to submit transcripts from each undergraduate and graduate institution attended. Coursework from one institution reported as transfer credit on another school's transcript does not meet Ohio State's definition of a transcript. Separate transcripts must be submitted if you received any transfer credit from other institutions.

In cases where examination results or grades are not released, please contact the Office of Graduate and Professional Admissions at gradadmissions@osu.edu.

The MSCM Admissions Committee reviews scanned copies of official transcripts uploaded in your application for evaluation purposes. Transcripts should include all work previously completed and work currently in progress. If you have  taken courses at The Ohio State University (or currently are taking courses at Ohio State), you do not need to submit transcripts for those grades.The Admissions Office will obtain your Ohio State grades directly from the University Registrar’s Office.

International credentials should include certified educational records and degree certificates or diplomas in the original language with English translations.

NOTE: If you are admitted to the MSCM program, you will be required to submit official copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts to the Office of Graduate and Professional Admissions. In order for these transcripts to count as official, they must be sent directly to The Ohio State University from each institution you attended.

Where To Send Official Transcripts

For U.S. Institutions

Request that your transcripts be sent electronically from the issuing institution directly to gpadocs@osu.edu. If your institution does not send official electronic transcripts, you may order them to be sent to us. Transcripts must come directly to us from the issuing institution; they cannot come from the applicant, even if they're in a sealed envelope.

Due to the program's online format, the MSCM program is unable to accept international applications for those with or seeking an F-1 or J-1 visa. International applicants not seeking an F-1 or J-1 visa can send copies of international transcripts, diplomas or degree certificates and English translations in sealed university envelopes to:

Special Notes Regarding Transcript Timing

• When applying, you can upload copies of official transcripts (final or listing 'work to date') or send official transcripts by email or mail to the university to receive your admissions decision.
• We advise admitted students to have their official final transcripts sent to The Ohio State University with proof of the degree before starting classes. Some admitted students will have a 'to-do' if we don't have final official transcripts or receive only copies of the official items during the admission process.
• In some rare/unique cases, students may have a few days of overlap between their official graduation date and the start of the summer term, and these few weeks allow a small grace period. However, if transcripts are delayed for too long, students should anticipate an account hold for these missing documents. 

TIP: Any document with the words "unofficial," "student's copy," or "advising report" will not be accepted by the university for consideration. Avoid these transcript mistakes. 

Special Notes for International Students

• Because not all international institutions send transcripts on-demand, we accept official transcripts sent to Graduate and Professional Admissions by the applicant if they arrive in sealed university envelopes.
• International transcript documents should include certified educational records and degree certificates or diplomas.
• All documents must be received in the original language with official English translations. Student-made translations are not accepted.

GMAT/GRE: Optional for MSCM Applicants

Standardized tests are one way we can evaluate potential success in the MSCM program. We accept the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE) without a preference. GMAT and GRE test scores are valid for 5 years. However, prospective MSCM students applying for admission have the option to submit their application with or without GMAT or GRE test scores.

How to apply without test scores

To apply without test scores, go to the application and answer "YES" to the question, "Do you wish to apply for admission without official GRE or GMAT scores?" We take a holistic approach when making admission decisions. If test scores are not included, the rest of your application carries more weight. You may decide to submit a test score if it strengthens your application.

Changes for GRE test takers

As of October 1, 2024, we will only accept GRE test scores taken at an ETS testing center, not the GRE at-home version. However, we will accept valid GRE at-home scores if taken before October 1, 2024. View a table of acceptable standardized tests if you plan to send scores. 

International Applicants - TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo

Ohio State's Graduate School requires international applicants to demonstrate English proficiency by taking the TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test. Keep in mind, that due to the program's online format, the MSCM program is unable to accept international applications for those with or seeking an F-1 or J-1 visa.

You will be required to provide two references (name, email, phone) that we reserve the right to contact if we feel the need to do so to reach an admission decision.​ ​Typically, your references should be from a professional context (example: supervisor).

To process each application for admission to the MSCM program, we charge a non-refundable fee of $60 for domestic applicants and $70 for international applicants.

Payment of the application fee must be made with a credit card as part of the application process.
