Why did you decide to pursue an Executive MBA?
At the most basic level, I was just looking for something to challenge myself and help broaden my view of the world. I have built up a very particular skill set after years focused on financial analysis, but I don’t have experience in the actual decision-making process that comes with running a business and that’s where I thought the EMBA program could help. Beyond that, it was an opportunity to work closely with highly motivated individuals looking for continuous improvement.
Why did you choose the Fisher Executive MBA? What sets it apart from other programs you looked at?
The easy answer is I live and work close to campus, so it’s convenient, but that’s not the real answer. For starters, the professors we are exposed to in the program are top of their fields and make each class a truly engaging experience. All the program administrators went above and beyond to make sure all questions and concerns were answered, and that I was totally comfortable with the program. And, finally, when I attended a preview day and got to sit in for an active class decision it just felt like where I was supposed to be. There was no doubt about it.
What is your ultimate long-term professional goal and how will the Executive MBA help you achieve this?
Like many of us out there, I am still working out what path I want to take with my career, but the great part about the EMBA program is the flexibility it provides. Based on what we are learning and exposed to throughout the program, I am confident I will be able to reach my goal once the course is set.
What advice would you give to a student looking to enter an Executive MBA program?
Find the right fit for you, no one else. You are going to be spending a significant amount of time with everyone in the program, so make sure it’s where you want to be. Once you figure that part out, commit. Make sure when your program ends you have maximized your time with world-class professors and built friendships with your classmates that will carry on long after the program has ended.

The Executive MBA fits my schedule and timeline better than the full time or working professional options.
Why did you choose the Fisher Executive MBA? What sets it apart from other programs you looked at?
As a lifelong Ohioan, I've always admired The Ohio State University for its reputation as a fantastic academic institution. When researching, I found two quality programs near me; Ohio State and Case Western Reserve. The two EMBAs are very similar, but Ohio State's is four months faster and has two immersion events as opposed to one. And, who doesn't want to be a Buckeye?
What is your ultimate long-term professional goal and how will the Executive MBA help you achieve this?

Ohio State's EMBA is giving me knowledge and tools such as an executive coach and business ownership course, but also confidence that I could succeed as a business owner.
What advice would you give to a student looking to enter an Executive MBA program?
Come to a preview day. That was really the tipping point for me in deciding to enroll. Why did you decide to pursue an Executive MBA?
I had been considering pursuing my MBA for 12 or so years, but it never felt like the right time. In 2022, there was a downsizing at my firm and my position was impacted. In the process of considering what to do next I took a “Consulting” course through Harvard’s Extension program, and I realized I needed the core foundation and frameworks that a MBA from a strong program would provide. I knew I wanted to be in-person and in a case study driven setting, not just text books and tests. As I was looking for what type of MBA program to chose, I started narrowing in on an Executive MBA because the age range and working experience matched closer to my current situation, and most of the students next step goals would be similar to mine.

Lastly, the curated schedule and length of the program were very attractive and the immersion trips are a great bonus.
What is your ultimate long-term professional goal and how will the Executive MBA help you achieve this?
My ultimate goal is to lead the business and own a P&L for a Health Insurance firm or a new health care/tech venture. I believe the credentials and weight of the OSU program will put me in the conversation, and the skills that I gain and refine through the program will make me stand out.
What advice would you give to a student looking to enter an Executive MBA program?
Understand that the cost is not just in money, but that it will take time and sacrifice to gain the true value out of the program given your busy schedule and home life. There is so much material and so much to learn, and you will do yourself a disservice if you are only after the title. It is an opportunity to network and ask questions from some of the most insightful business minds in the world during at a time in your career when you can actually put the learning and advice directly into practice.
