My trip to Brazil was a wonderful professional, and personal, learning experience. The four weeks were full of challenging tasks, exciting adventures, and great memories with my newfound friends.

Program Details

  • General Program Information

    Students apply to work for Fisher's Global Consulting Firm on a consulting project for a company or business. If selected, students will consult with companies on projects that have been sourced by Fisher's Office of Global Business. This program is competitive due to the limited number of projects. Each project will have 4-6 students on a team.


    • Applications are evaluated by first come first serve by checkpoint. Students who apply prior to a checkpoint will be evaluated and interviewed for open project teams. After each checkpoint if project teams are full, updates will be posted on the website and application. 


    Application Opens: October 1, 2018

    Application Closes: January 15, 2019

    First Application Checkpoint: October 10, 2018

    A one-credit class, BUSADM 4189, Advanced Field Study, scheduled during Spring Semester, second 7-week session, will be REQUIRED of ALL students excepted into this program.

    Fridays, 3pm-7pm, Mason Hall Rotunda (more specific information will be announced later)

    During the class, students will better understand the dynamics of doing business globally, resources for project management, mitigating risk while traveling, understanding how to assimilate into the location-specific culture, understanding how to make the most of this opportunity, and health and safety concerns will be covered. 

    Admitted students will be automatically added to the course by the Office of Global Business. Students cannot self-enroll.  Please leave room in your spring schedule to accommodate this one-credit required course and be available each Friday during second semester from 3-7pm.

    • Accommodations for 4 weeks
    • 24/7 Resident Director In-Country
    • Consulting Project (7 weeks pre-work, 4 weeks in-country)
    • Company Facility, Manager's Time, Access to Resources
    • Transportation Assistance to/from Airport
    • In-Country Orientation

    Program Fee does not include:

    • Roundtrip Airfare
    • GeoBlue International Supplemental Health Insurance
    • Visa (if appliciable) 
    • Food and extracurricular activities


  • Eligibility

    All applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • GPA of 3.0 or greater (from OSU)
    • Not graduating Spring 2019
    • Course Requirements before departure May 2019 (for business students):
      • ECON 2001.01 (Macroeconomics), ECON 2002.01 (Microeconomics), CSE 2111 or 1113 (Computer Assisted Problem Solving), STAT 1430 (Business Statistics)
        • Business Minors or Other Majors, please email Maureen Grady for course requirements eligibility
    • Valid Passport:
      • Not required for application but you must have a passport at the time of visa application or departure, which ever comes first
      • Passport expiration date must be after January 1, 2020
    • Good Standing with Office of Student Conduct
      • The Office of Global Business checks official standing at time of application and prior to departure
      • If your status changes at any time it is your responsibility to inform the Program Manager within the Office of Global Business

  • Application Process

    Application for Fisher's Global Consulting Firm is now open and the deadline to apply is January 15, 2019 at 11:59pm EST. You may only submit ONE completed application. Incomplete applications will not be processed. Applications are processed on a rolling basis with checkpoints.


    Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis using checkpoints. An application submitted prior to the checkpoint will be evaluated during that checkpoint evaluation window. 

    1. Complete your online application prior to a checkpoint
      • Including required application documents (see 'Application Documents' section below)
    2. Group interviews will be held in the weeks following a checkpoint date. The Office of Global Business will reach out to each applicant at least 48 hours prior regarding the interview details.
    3. Students are notified two weeks after group interviews are held.
      • If all the spots on a project team are filled from applicants in Checkpoint 1 (or 2), updates will be posted on the website and application. That project team will no longer be open for applications. 

    Checkpoint Deadline Dates:
