Peer Career Consultants
Fisher College of Business Peer Career Consultants are trained undergraduate and graduate business students prepared to support undergraduate business students by:
- Reviewing job search materials, including resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn and Handshake profiles, and employer/networking correspondence
- Planning customized internship and/or job search strategies
- Conducting QUIC Interviews and interview preparation conversations
- Discussing job offers for evaluation and negotiation assistance
- Presenting to business courses and student organizations on career-related topics

- Best advice you would give a Fisher student in the midst of the internship/job search:
- “It might sometimes feel like recruiting is entirely dominated by the companies you are recruiting for, but the process is really just an opportunity for you to find the industry or company that is best suited for your specific skill set. Take it as a chance to get one step closer to the perfect job for you! Lastly, genuinely caring goes so far in the recruiting process. Putting in the effort to demonstrate true interest in a position is a great way to put your best foot forward (do your research!).”

- “The reason I wanted to become a Career Consultant stemmed from a desire to assist and support students, driven by the generosity I received during my own recruitment journey. The process of navigating recruitment can be overwhelming and formidable, but having someone to provide guidance makes it significantly more manageable.”

- “Join as many organizations as you can while balancing academics, perfect your resume, cover letters, LinkedIn profile, Handshake profile, start your internship/job search as early as possible, network with professionals in the industry that you are interested in (especially recruiters), and most of all - Remain optimistic!”

- “During my freshman year, I had no clear direction when I first arrived on campus. Looking back at that time, I find it hard to believe that I now have access to the opportunities and privileges I do. These include internships, involvement in student organizations, and valuable personal and professional relationships. I owe much of my progress to the mentors I've encountered along the way, and those I have yet to meet. Being a Peer Career Consultant is so incredibly fulfilling to assist others in the same way I was once helped.”

- “Set aside weekly time dedicated to your career search as if it were a class with its own schedule. During this time, use the resources Fisher offers to improve your resume, LinkedIn, and cover letter. Mock interviews and practicing networking conversations are extremely helpful in showing your best, confident self in interviews.”

- “Use LinkedIn to reach out to professionals in industries you're interested in (Especially OSU grads!) and do it early! They're almost always willing to guide students because they remember being in that position themselves.”
