Real Estate
Real estate brings together finance, development, planning, construction and design to shape the places where people live and work. Drawing on courses from three academic departments, the Real Estate minor gives students an interdisciplinary understanding of the industry and the flexibility to select coursework that complements their major and career interests.
Through at least 15 credit hours of required and elective coursework, students develop industry-specific knowledge relevant to careers in investment, development, property and asset management, consulting, brokerage, construction, planning and more. Students can also connect with Fisher’s Center for Real Estate to discover additional programs, resources and opportunities.

BUSFIN 3400 - Introduction to Real Estate (3)*
*Please note that BUSFIN 3400 has a prerequisite of BUSMHR 2292, but this may be waived for students with a declared Real Estate minor. Please email undergraduate@fisher.osu.edu for further information.
- BUSFIN 4410 - Real Estate Finance (3 credits): Basics of the mortgage markets and related finance investments and models of real estate valuation.
- Prerequisites: BUSFIN 3120 or 3220; BUSFIN 3400
- BUSFIN 4411 - Property Management (3 credits): An overview of tasks performed by property management personnel/companies and the differentiation of the management approaches used for commercial and residential managers

- BUSFIN 4412 - Real Estate Law (3 credits): An introduction to the various aspects of real estate law including deeds, land ownership, mortgages and basic contract law.
- Prerequisites: BUSFIN 3400, 3220, 3500; BUSOBA 2320, 2321; BUSMHR 2292
- BUSFIN 4413 - Planning & Development (3 credits): An overview of all the stages of development process, including discovery, site selection, market survey, product selection, design, approval process, financing, and leading and management.
- Prerequisites: BUSFIN 3400, 3220, 3500; BUSOBA 2320, 2321; BUSMHR 2292
- BUSFIN 5402 - Real Estate Valuation (3 credits): Real estate financial modeling course covering valuations of existing income producing property as well as ground up construction.
- Prerequisites: BUSFIN 3400, and Real Estate Minor declared
- BUSML 4380 - Advanced Logistics Management (1.5 credits): Advanced coverage of the concepts and methods used to plan and manage logistics activities in a business environment; in-depth understanding of the components of logistics management and tradeoffs required to manage the integrated flow of goods.

- BUSML 4388 - Logistics Execution II (1.5 credits): Description: This course will equip students with warehouse management skills, including facility layout, financial analysis, and labor relations. There will also be an additional focus on carrier operations, transportation pricing, and third-party service providers.

- CRP 3400 - Planning for Sustainable Economic Development (3 credits): Description: Understanding the intersection of economics, the environment, and development in order to use planning tools to promote sustainable economic development.
- Prerequisites: ECON 2001.01
- CRP 3600 - Land Development Planning (3 credits): Description: Planners shape cities. The land development process requires understanding the impacts of new development and redevelopment in order to reimagine more vibrant sites.

- CRP 5400 - Planning for Housing (3 credits): The creation of a range of housing to support growth and revitalization of cities and regions. Includes housing uses, meaning, design, and role.

- CONSYSM 2205 - Intro to Construction Project Management (3 credits): Overview of commercial, industrial, institutional, transportation and residential sectors of the construction industry and the role of the construction manager. Introduction to planning, scheduling, estimating, safety and ethics in construction.

- CONSYSM 2310 - Electrical and Lightning Systems (3 credits): Concepts of electricity and illumination applied to the design and installation of electrical and lighting systems in the buildings including safety, code requirements, installation methods, electrical schematics, and construction blueprints.

- CONSYSM 2345 - Mechanical Systems for Buildings (3 credits): Fundamentals of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and noise and vibration control and their impact on building design and construction.
- Prerequisites or concurrent: Math 1148,1149, 1150, or 1151; Physics 1200 or 1250
- CONSYSM 5670 - Green Building and Sustainable Construction (3 credits): Introduction to LEED rating systems, major components of sustainable building design and construction as well as other environmental and economic issues of sustainable built environments.
