Background

Long Fang is a first-year PhD student in the Department of Operations & Business Analytics at the Fisher College of Business. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing with a concentration in Digital & Marketing Analytics from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Science in Business Analytics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His research spans machine learning, causal inference, and big data analytics, with a focus on social media and platform economics. Long has contributed to impactful projects, including analyzing the effects of marijuana legalization on consumer credit and developing a chatbot that recommends academic papers using large language models. Prior to joining Fisher, he worked for JPMorgan Chase as a Quantitative Analytics Associate Sr.

An interesting fact: Long once mined and cleaned over 10GB of state-level lending data to uncover geographic patterns in peer-to-peer lending behavior.
