10:30 a.m. - Lead With Questions, Decide With Data: Inside Huntington Bank's Transformation
Jeff Sturm, EVP, Chief Continuous Improvement Officer, Huntington Bank

Huntington Bank might be a Columbus institution, but it’s charting a course for growth throughout the Midwest that’s already taken it beyond the $100 billion-asset mark. Along the way, Huntington is working on the inside to ensure it’s an organization equipped with leaders and problem solvers ready to make data-driven decisions that fuel continuous improvement. That hasn’t happened overnight.

jeff sturm huntingtonCOE member Huntington is gearing up to enter the fifth year of an operational excellence journey shepherded by EVP and Chief Continuous Improvement Officer Jeff Sturm (pictured, right) and his team. In his keynote, Sturm will share highlights of the cultural change the bank has achieved so far, focusing on the core leadership behaviors that sustain momentum in the organization. Those include: asking the right questions in the right way, fostering internal and external collaboration, and driving clarity by defining “winning.” Sturm also will show how day-to-day continuous improvement efforts are executing on the bank’s three-part CI strategy, which keeps employees aligned on: establishing cultural behaviors, creating capable colleagues, and delivering results.

No matter the industry, changing behavior takes time – and commitment from the C-suite to the front lines. Sturm’s story offers a look inside one organization doing it right at a time of growth and unprecedented change.
