Fisher College of Business has appointed Brian Mittendorf chair of its Department of Accounting and Management Information Systems.

Mittendorf succeeds J. Richard Dietrich, who retired as department chair but will continue his service to the college as a respected accounting professor and researcher.

“Serving as chair of the Department of Accounting and MIS is a tremendous honor and one for which I am extremely grateful,” said Mittendorf, who joined the faculty at Fisher in 2009. “I want to thank Dr. Dietrich for his contributions and leadership throughout his tenure as chair. With the support of our world-class faculty, I hope to continue the tremendous accomplishments and rich history of accounting education at Ohio State as we continue to educate the next generation of business leaders.”

Mittendorf (PhD ’02) has taught students in Fisher’s undergraduate, graduate and PhD programs and has served on a number of leadership committees within his department and throughout the college.

He has studied the role of accounting information in supply chain management, incentive contracting and competitive strategy, and is a leading researcher in nonprofit organizations. He serves on the editorial board of The Accounting Review and is an editor of the Journal of Management Accounting Research and a senior editor of Production and Operations Management.
