Department chairs at Fisher College of Business are defined by their leadership through teaching, research and service. Below are profiles of Fisher's five department chairs holders:
Ken Boyer
Department of Management Sciences
Dr. Boyer is a professor of operations management and chair of the Management Sciences department. He came to Fisher in 2008 from Michigan State University, where he was a professor in the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management.
From 2006-11, he was the co-editor in chief of the Journal of Operations Management, one of the five highest-ranking management journals in the field and the premiere scholarly journal for operations and supply chain management
J. Richard Dietrich
Department of Accounting and Management Information Systems
Dr. Dietrich joined Fisher College after serving as Academic Fellow in the Security and Exchange Commission’s Office of the Chief Accountant. Previously, he was the Deloitte & Touche Professor of Accountancy at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Professor of Accounting and the Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. Centennial Faculty Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin.
He also served as visiting professor at both Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Chicago. Dr. Dietrich’s research has been published in numerous professional journals, and he is a frequent presenter at professional conferences.
Bernadette Minton
Department of Finance
Dr. Minton was appointed Chair of the Department of Finance at The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business in 2016. She also holds the Arthur E. Shepard Endowed Professorship in Insurance.
Prior to her appointment as chair, Professor Minton served as the Academic Director of The Risk Institute since its inception in October 2013, as well as its Interim Executive Director. During her tenure, she oversaw growth in The Risk Institute’s profile and its corporate participation.
Bennett Tepper
Department of Management and Human Resources
Dr. Tepper earned his PhD (organizational psychology) and MS (organizational psychology) from the University of Miami and his BS (psychology) from The Ohio State University. His research interests focus on managerial leadership, employee health and well-being, and the performance of prosocial and antisocial work behaviors.
Dr. Tepper's research has been published in The Academy of Management Journal, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Applied Psychology andPersonnel Psychology.
Walter Zinn
Department of Marketing and Logistics
Dr. Zinn’s research interests focus primarily on the impact of customer service policies on the determination of safety stocks. As part of this focus, his research addresses issues such as the effects of inventory centralization and sales forecasting on safety stocks, logistics partnerships and, more recently, consumer reactions to stockouts.
Professor Zinn is also interested in logistics issues in Latin America and received a logistics innovation award from the Latin American Logistics Center.
