Associate deans selected to lead Fisher’s strategic vision

As Fisher College of Business builds on the accomplishments of 100 years of excellence in business education, strong leadership and clear direction will help advance and elevate key strategic areas of the college for future generations of business leaders, faculty researchers and teachers.
Dean Anil K. Makhija has announced his team of associate deans who will direct strategy and action across a number of critical areas throughout the college.
“These individuals have demonstrated an incredible willingness and enthusiasm to put their unique perspectives and leadership skills to work in service of the college,” Makhija said. “I look forward to working with each of them as we move Fisher forward as an institution for excellence in business education.”
Associate Deans
Peter Ward
Senior Associate Dean for Academics
Arrived at Fisher: 1988
Dr. Ward holds the Richard M. Ross Chair in Management at Fisher and is academic director of the Master of Business Operational Excellence program. He helped develop Fisher’s Master of Business Operational Excellence degree and serves as co-director of Fisher’s Center for Operational Excellence, a consortium of more than 30 companies dedicated to excellence and thought leadership in operations. Dr. Ward will oversee all aspects of Fisher’s academic mission and will also lead outreach efforts including non-degree executive education and our various centers, as well as cross-campus collaboration.
Anil Arya
Associate Dean for Faculty and Research
Arrived at Fisher: 1991
Dr. Arya holds the John J. Gerlach Chair in Accounting and previously served as the director of Fisher’s Master of Accounting program. He has taught in the MBA, MAcc, undergraduate honors, and the PhD accounting programs, including courses in Management and Control and Uncertainty, Diversification and Private Information. As associate dean, Dr. Arya will focus on faculty recruitment, support and development, promotion and tenure, the research climate at Fisher and other matters related to faculty and research.
Walter Zinn
Associate Dean for Graduate Students and Programs
Arrived at Fisher: 1999
Dr. Zinn previously served as the chair of the Department of Marketing and Logistics at Fisher. He was appointed co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Business Logistics, a leading academic publication that began more than 30 years ago at Ohio State. Dr. Zinn teaches Advanced Logistics Management, Strategic Logistics Management and Field Problems in Logistics. As associate dean, he will oversee the delivery of curriculum and the marketing of Fisher’s Full-Time, Working Professionals and Executive MBA programs, as well as other graduate masters programs, including Master of Accounting, Master of Human Resources Management, Master of Business Logistics Engineering, which he co-founded in 2006, Specialized Master in Finance and Master of Business Operational Excellence.
Elliot Bendoly
Associate Dean for Undergraduate Students and Programs
Arrived at Fisher: 2014
Dr. Bendoly is the Fisher College of Business Distinguished Professor in Management Sciences. He is a recognized leader in data visualization, analytics, management of technology and behavioral operations. In 2015 he was named the Operations Management Distinguished Scholar by the Academy of Management, and in 2016 was appointed the Translational Data Analytics Faculty-in-Residence at Ohio State. At Fisher, he teaches Business Analytics: Data Management and Descriptive Analysis. As associate dean, he will work to increase the number and breadth of high-impact experiences for the more than 7,000 undergraduate students at Fisher. He will also explore the use of technology to grow Fisher’s curriculum and programs.
David Greenberger
Associate Dean for Staff, Human Resources and Administration
Arrived at Fisher: 1988
Dr. Greenberger will continue his role as Associate Dean for Staff, Human Resources and Administration at Fisher, where he will work on staff recruitment, compensation, retention, development and promotion, as well as HR issues for faculty. Prior to his service as associate dean, Dr. Greenberger was the chair of the Department of Management and Human Resources. His courses include Leveraging Athletics for Business and Personal Success, Building Professional Services, Human Resource Problem Solving and Managing Diversity. As associate dean, he will build on the success of Ohio State’s Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) as Fisher explores its globalization efforts.
Steffanie Wilk
Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion
Arrived at Fisher: 2006
Dr. Wilk is an associate professor of management and human resources and a researcher in areas such as worker mobility, emotional demands of service work and social relationships and networks of contacts at work. She teaches organizational behavior to the honors undergraduates and strategic human resource management to graduate and undergraduate students. As associate dean, Dr. Wilk will work to improve diversity and inclusion across the college, including developing programs that can help increase the representation of women and under-represented minorities among faculty, staff and students, and to improve the climate for their success.
Dean Makhija has identified professional success among staff as a key component within the college. As such, he has named Jeff Rice an Associate to the Dean for Staff Professional Development.
Jeff Rice
Associate to the Dean for Staff Professional Development
Executive Director, Office of Career Management
Arrived at Fisher: 1993
Rice leads Fisher’s award-winning Office of Career Management, which provides professional development and career counseling to Fisher students. Under Rice’s leadership, the Office of Career Management has been recognized by recruiters as a leader in connecting students with companies and organizations. He will work with Dr. Greenberger to enhance staff professional development by crystallizing their needs and aspirations and helping to create appropriate development opportunities.
