Leadership Microgrant Program
The Fisher Leadership Initiative is pleased to offer a microgrant program to support the study of leadership by faculty members from the Fisher College of Business and their co-investigators. Topics of such research must be limited in scope to advancing the study of leadership, with particular preference given to studies on the following topics: principled leadership; leadership effectiveness; leadership and diversity, equity, and inclusion; inclusive excellence; leadership and organizations; student leadership development; women in leadership; online/asynchronous leadership training methods.
Applications for the 2024 microgrant cycle are due by August 1, 2024. See application requirements below and on the application portal:
Application Requirements
All the following sections should be submitted in ONE MS Word document. Please use Times New Roman, 12pt, double spaced font. The page allocations below are merely suggestions; the amount of space used will depend on the authors and their proposal.
- Author Bios: 150 words for each author. Must include names, titles, emails, OSU mailing addresses, research experience/interest and affiliations of all investigators.
- Project Description: Project descriptions must include the following information.
- Title Page (1 Page)
- Working title of your project
- Lead Researchers: List full names of lead researcher
- Co-Authors: List full names of all co-authors
- Amount Requested: The total amount requested (award maximum=$2,000), including description of how to you plan to allocate the budget; Note: we will NOT support investigators’ time
- Abstract (200 words): In this section, briefly describe the purpose of your study, your research questions, research method, and expected outcome.
- Press Paragraph (150 words): Provide a paragraph that may be used to describe your study to a practitioner-based audience. Why does your study matter?
- Introduction (1–2 pages): A brief literature review on your research question
- Hypotheses (1-2 pages): A brief elucidation of hypotheses and/or conceptual model
- Methodology (1-2 pages): A description of your proposed methodology, including:
- Sample and approximate sample size
- Measurements to be used in the study
- A description of how you intend to analyze your data (if applicable)
- Discussion (1 page)
- A discussion of how your work contributes to the literature (1-2 paragraphs)
- A brief elucidation of the practical implications of your work (1-2 paragraphs)
- References (If applicable)
- Deliverables: The following are required to fulfill your obligations of the grant:
- Outlets: A specific delineation of the outlets the work will be submitted to (a list of possible outlets is acceptable), as well as any conferences to which the work will be submitted.
- Credit: We ask you to acknowledge “Fisher Leadership Initiative at The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business” for the funding if the research is published.
- Affirmation: A signed statement affirming that the research will be in a sufficient state of completion to submit to academic journals by fall 2025.
- An article published on Lead Read Today, Fisher College of Business’ leadership news and information website by December 2025. This article can be merged with the abstract and project summary described in the following bullet points to provide practitioners insight into your study and anticipated outcomes.
- Additional Materials: Full CVs for all investigators in application may be submitted online
By submitting this application, I (principal investigator) certify that the statements and information provided are true to the best of my knowledge. Should I be selected for a leadership microgrant, I agree that the award funds will be used only for the purpose reflected in my application. I hereby agree to submit all deliverables by August 1, 2024 to the Fisher Leadership Initiative and fulfill all deliverables.
