September 15 - Future of REIT's

The Center for Real Estate kicked off its new Breakfast Series program with a panel discussion about the future of the Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) industry with representatives from some of the largest REITs in the state of Ohio, including Matthew A. Lougee, Senior Vice President of Finance, DDR, Shankh Mitra, SVP of Finance and Investment, Welltower, Inc. and Robert Myers, Chief Operating Officer, Phillips Edison. The panel and its moderator, Michael Glimcher, former President and CEO of WP Glimcher,  discussed recent trends and changes in the $1.1 trillion industry, as well as its future outlook. January 19 - Developing Columbus: Tax Incentives and Their Impact

Over the past few decades, the city of Columbus has used its considerable toolkit of financial incentives to help spur development in select parts around the city, helping to usher an era of overall growth and prosperity. Our panel of experts discussed real estate tax incentives available in Columbus and the surrounding communities, their impact on our city and what, if anything, should be changed to allow for greater impact of these investments. The panel was moderated by Mr. Marvin Larger, Executive Vice President for Real Estate, Americas for DHL Supply Chain, and included Kenny McDonald, CEO of Columbus 2020, Yaromir Steiner, CEO of Steiner+Associates; Kelly Saunders, Director for Economic Development, DHL Supply Chain and Scott Ziance, Partner with Vory's LLP. April 6 - Restoring Legacy: The Story of the LeVeque Tower

The beauty and character of historical buildings has long been recognized by people all over the world.  But so has the effort and cost required to bring back their past luster, while updating them to accommodate modern lifestyle. The iconic LeVeque Tower, once the tallest building between New York City and Chicago, has undergone a complete transformation over the past five years. Our panelists discussed this major undertaking from their various viewpoints, what has made this unique collaborative effort possible and what are the challenges of restoring a historical landmark.
