Eligibility
Participating universities may nominate up to four undergraduate students with a minimum GPA of 3.0, with a preference for students maintaining a 3.4 or higher. Applicants with student leadership experience will receive special consideration. Approximately 40 students from universities across the country will be selected to participate in this competitive program.
Program Overview
The Annual KeyBank Leadership and Creativity Symposium, a collaborative recruiting initiative between KeyBank and the Fisher College of Business, offers top undergraduate students a unique opportunity to enhance their leadership and professional skills.
Through its partnership with KeyBank, the symposium integrates real-world insights from the banking industry. The experience culminates in a dynamic case competition, allowing students to apply what they've learned in a team-based, high-impact setting. Participants will receive a participation allowance of $200–$400, complimentary meals, and accommodation at The Blackwell Inn, Fisher’s on-campus hotel and conference center.
The program covers essential topics such as leadership, creativity, product innovation, spreadsheet management, entrepreneurial thinking, persuasive communication, and negotiation techniques. Participants will engage in interactive workshops designed to develop leadership skills and enhance professional growth. A brief description of each module of the symposium is included below.
Symposium Modules
What makes an effective leader? This module explores key leadership traits, successful leadership practices, and how strong leadership drives organizational success—or presents challenges when lacking.
Closely linked with the product innovation module, the creativity module will introduce students to the power of creative thinking by taking them through problems where solutions requiring ingenuity are demanded.
Students will dive into the innovation process, brainstorming new product ideas and defending them in a structured presentation.
This session teaches students how to leverage spreadsheets for strategic decision-making, guiding them through real-world business scenarios.
From idea evaluation to execution, this module walks students through the entrepreneurial process, equipping them with the tools to turn concepts into viable business opportunities.
Delivering a compelling presentation is a vital professional skill. This module focuses on audience engagement, content structuring, and effectively presenting analyses and solutions.
