Business Scholars Program Frequently Asked Questions
The inaugural year for the Business Scholars Program was 2007.
The Business Scholars Program was created to address the high interest among incoming First Year students for co-curricular programing and a living-learning community closely connected with the Fisher College of Business.
YES. Business Scholars membership requires being an active participant. Continuation in the program is contingent upon students meeting expectations during their first year. Students who successfully complete their First and Second Year expectations earn a Scholars Transcript Designation acknowledging this achievement.
YES. Business Scholars are encouraged to apply to the Business Scholars Leadership Council. This council supports programming efforts through the program, including coordinating a peer mentorship program between First Year Business Scholars and upperclassmen.
YES. Business Scholars who earn a 3.5 GPA or better in at least 12 credit hours of coursework at Ohio State may apply to the Honors Program through the Fisher College of Business and still remain active within the Business Scholars Program.
In order to develop community, as a First Year Business Scholar you must live in Blackburn House on north campus, unless you are commuting from home. Students will live on campus during their Second Year, but are not required to live with the Business Scholars Community.
While not mandatory, historically, most Business Scholars participate in the domestic overnight trip to a major metropolitan city.
YES. Business Scholars is the only Scholars program whose students are directly admitted to the BSBA major program and desired specialization.
NO. Students may apply from any academic discipline; however, preference for admission will be given to students intending to major in business.
