Business course transfer credit

To receive credit for college coursework completed at another institution, it must first be evaluated by Ohio State. Courses that have an established Ohio State equivalent are awarded that equivalent and do not require additional review. Other courses may need to be evaluated by the appropriate academic department to determine whether an equivalent Ohio State course can be identified.

For business and accounting coursework, Fisher provides this additional evaluation. You may need to request an evaluation if:

• You have already completed a course elsewhere and it did not receive a direct Ohio State course equivalent on your transfer credit evaluation.
• You are considering taking a course elsewhere and want to know how it may transfer before you enroll.

I’ve already completed a course

If you completed coursework at another college or university, your first step is to send an official transcript to Ohio State. Once your transcript has been processed, review your transfer credit evaluation in Buckeye Degree Planner.

If your course has a direct Ohio State equivalent, no additional evaluation is needed. Talk with your academic advisor if you have questions about how the course applies toward your degree.

If a business or accounting course is listed as 'general' or 'special credit', the course may need additional evaluation by Fisher and a request for evaluation should be submitted.

I’m planning to take a course elsewhere

Talk with your academic advisor before enrolling to determine whether taking the course elsewhere is appropriate for your academic plan. Once you’ve identified the institution and course, request a pre-evaluation from Fisher before enrolling. Allow up to four weeks for review.

After you complete your course

Even if a course was pre-evaluated, you’ll need to complete the university’s transfer-credit process after finishing it.

Send your official transcript to Ohio State. Request a final, official transcript from the institution after your final grade has been posted. Do not send transcripts directly to Fisher.

Review your transfer credit evaluation. Once Ohio State processes your transcript, review your transfer credit in Buckeye Degree Planner.

Request additional evaluation if needed. Business or accounting courses posted as general or special credit may require further review by Fisher.

Courses that receive a direct Ohio State equivalent do not require additional evaluation.

Learn about Ohio State transfer credit

Before enrolling in business or accounting coursework outside Ohio State, keep these Fisher requirements and policies in mind:

• Institution requirements: Transfer credit toward Fisher business minors, foundation, core and specialization requirements generally must be completed at an AACSB-accredited institution or an international institution that is a current Fisher undergraduate exchange partner. Exceptions may apply for approved Ohio public institutions.
• Specialization coursework: A maximum of three semester hours of approved transfer credit may be applied toward specialization requirements.
• Residency requirement: Students must complete at least 30 semester hours of business, accounting and economics coursework through Ohio State.
• Prerequisite courses: Taking a prerequisite elsewhere can affect your ability to enroll in the next course in a sequence. The prerequisite must be completed and proof of the final grade provided before you can enroll in or waitlist for the next course.
• Final-semester coursework: Taking courses elsewhere during your final semester is strongly discouraged and should only be considered after meeting with your academic advisor. Delays in receiving final transcripts or transfer-credit approval could affect graduation.
