Current Buckeyes
Current Ohio State students can apply to Fisher’s business major whether they are changing from another Ohio State major or preparing to transition from a regional campus to Columbus. All current students follow the same general application process, but some requirements and considerations vary depending on your path.
How to apply to Fisher's business major
Regardless of your path to Fisher, all current Ohio State students seeking admission to a business major must submit an application. The following steps outline the process, from confirming your eligibility and applying to completing the requirements for newly admitted students.
To be eligible to apply to a Fisher business major, you must meet all of the following criteria:
- Minimum Ohio State GPA of 3.10 or better
- Completion of English 1110 or any Writing and Information Literacy (WIL) GE with a grade of C or better
- Completion of Math 1131 or 1151 or equivalent with a grade of C or better
- Completion of 26 semester hours of coursework (this includes transfer credit, EM, AP, PSEO)
- Completion at least 12 semester hours of Ohio State letter-graded coursework earned after high school graduation.
Once you meet the admission criteria, you can submit an online application for admission to the Fisher business major during the application period for the desired semester of admission, as follows:
- Autumn admission: May 1 through June 1
- Spring admission: August 15 through September 15
- Summer admission: January 1 through January 31
Before submitting, review your application carefully. Incomplete or incorrect applications will not be reviewed. Applications are time stamped, and if you submit more than one application during the same cycle, only your final submission will be reviewed.
Admission decisions are typically sent to your Ohio State name.# email account four to six weeks after the application deadline.
Admission to the business major is not guaranteed and may be competitive based on the size and strength of the applicant pool. If you are not admitted, you may apply again during a future application cycle.
Admission decisions are sent to your Ohio State email address. If admitted, you will officially enter the business major for the term to which you applied.
Once admitted to a Fisher business major, you will be assessed a professional program fee and technology fee each term. Fees are reviewed annually and are subject to change.
Students who change their major to business must complete an onboarding requirement during their first semester in Fisher. This requirement is designed to help you understand your new curriculum, connect with Fisher resources and begin planning for your academic and professional goals.
You can fulfill the requirement in one of two ways:
- Enroll in BUSADM 1200 — Business Survey II: This one-credit seminar is designed specifically for students who have changed their major to business. You’ll work with Fisher’s advising team to develop an academic, professional and personal plan for success while connecting with other new business students and upper-level students.
Note: Students who enroll in BUSADM 1200 for their first semester in Fisher will not have a registration lock placed on their account.
- Attend a Major Change Workshop: This two-hour, in-person workshop introduces you to Fisher’s curriculum, support resources and opportunities for professional and leadership development. Academic advisors will also help you begin identifying short- and long-term goals for your Fisher experience.
Workshop dates and registration information are sent to newly admitted students through their Ohio State email within the first four weeks of the semester.
Important: Students who do not enroll in BUSADM 1200 will have a registration lock placed on their account until they complete a Major Change Workshop.
Information for campus change students
If you attend an Ohio State regional campus and want to pursue a Fisher business major in Columbus, you’ll need to complete the campus-change process in addition to applying for admission to the business major, as outlined above.
Complete the campus-change process
To change to the Columbus campus, you must complete at least 30 semester hours of coursework earned after high school graduation. You can begin the campus-change process while completing this requirement, but your campus change will not be processed until all requirements are met.
The process varies by regional campus:
- Newark students: Complete the Campus Change Module in Carmen once you are eligible to change campuses.
- Students at Lima, Mansfield and Marion: Meet with your regional academic advisor to complete the campus-change process and confirm your plan for admission to Fisher. This advising meeting is required.
Your campus-change decision will be sent to your Ohio State email address.
