The Risk Institute at The Ohio State University Max M. Fisher College of Business has named Tammy Izzo, CPA, its new executive director.

Izzo will provide strategic leadership for the continued growth of the Risk Institute as it further establishes itself as a forum for cross-industry collaboration, academic research, thought leadership and talent development for its members, business leaders, academics and students.

Izzo, a former board chair and member of the Risk Institute’s Advisory Board, spent nearly 30 years in various roles and specialization areas at EY, including automotive, advanced manufacturing, mobility, education, and consumer product/retail.

“I am excited to join the Risk Institute and amplify the message on risk,” Izzo said. “In collaboration with our amazing members (current and future), faculty, researchers, students and our community, I look forward to increasing the pace of change, setting the agenda on risk education, and impacting our future through the recognition of risk management as a key leadership skill.”

As EY’s technology risk partner, Izzo led projects and initiatives focused on compliance, internal controls, digital transformation, cybersecurity and related threats, enhancing customer experience and delivering thought leadership. Her team successfully resolved complex cyber-, technology- and risk-related issues designed to protect the company and drive improvement.

Izzo also served as global coordinating service partner, working with some of EY’s largest clients, including General Motors, Visteon and American Electric Power. She built the GM account into one of the firm’s top 10 accounts, focusing on complex issues including financial reengineering, remediation of SOX 404, the company’s initial public offering and commercial matters such as dealers and warranty issues, supply chain, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, customs considerations and technology and cyber risk.

Upon completing her EY career in 2020, Tammy began teaching enterprise risk management as a senior lecturer at Fisher. She is a board member of Central Ohio Junior Achievement and Miami University’s Business Advisory Councils. She earned an undergraduate degree in accounting from Miami University.
