Outreach

We, at IMS, believe that one of the greatest benefits of membership is the access to the vast resources both inside and outside of The Ohio State University.  Through our Outreach programs, we provide opportunities for our members to make connections with the entire university, our faculty and students, and peers at member companies.

Fall Symposium

IMS establishes our school year theme and objectives with our Fall Symposium kick-off event. The theme flows though all activities throughout the year. This symposium brings information about cutting-edge business practices to both our member companies and others in the community. Participants in the symposium include leaders from industry, government and non-profit organizations.

Past themes have included:

  • Service Brand Ambassadors: Engaged Employees and Enthused Customers
  • Proven Talent Management Practices
  • Retention:  People, Customers, Profitability
  • Making the Voice of the Customer Actionable
  • The theme for the IMS 2009-10 Fall Symposium was Speed and Agility: An Advantage in Turbulent Times.

Through our Fall Symposium series, we continue to expose our Member Companies to the latest thinking on current issues in the services sector from a variety of viewpoints.

IMS Intern Program

Member companies work closely with Ohio State MBA students on projects related to IMS' annual theme. Interns worked closely with a company Project Manager to set guidelines and research strategies. The active participation of the Project Managers who represent our member companies is critical to the continued success of our Intern Program.

Gateway to Ohio State

IMS staff currently works with member companies on an individualized basis to help navigate through the myriad services and contacts available at Ohio State.

Professional Development

IMS offers several different program formats for facilitating networking, education, and topical discussions among Advisory Board Members, as well as employees of Member Companies including:  Executive Briefings, Roundtable Meetings, and our Workshop Series.

Member Collaboration

Member company networking events complement our regular advisory board meetings. By networking with other members, representatives of our member companies have the opportunity to draw upon the expertise of executives at leading service organizations, pool resources to solve business challenges and utilize member contacts to enhance professional networks within the services sector.

Student Talent Networking, Recruiting and Placement

IMS staff and faculty work with our Member Companies on an individualized basis to introduce them to top student talent at Fisher College of Business.
