Center for Entrepreneurship

Our Vision and Mission

The Center for Entrepreneurship at the Fisher College of Business is an official academic center of The Ohio State University. Launched in November 2001, the Center supports academic research, education and community engagement in entrepreneurship. The Center strives to advance both the science and practice of entrepreneurship so as to stimulate economic growth and development through new company formation, technology commercialization, and improved competitive performance of entrepreneurial ventures.

The founders of the Fisher Center for Entrepreneurship believed that the Center could be the global leader in the development and dissemination of entrepreneurship theory and practice. From this vision, the mission was derived. The mission of the Center for Entrepreneurship is to:

• advance scientific research and development in the field of entrepreneurship;
• provide the highest quality instruction in entrepreneurship, including grounded experiential learning opportunities; and
• stimulate economic growth by accelerating new company formation, enhancing technology commercialization, and improving the strategic and financial performance of high-potential entrepreneurial ventures.

Our mission is derived from three core values:

• to lead the advancement of science and practice in entrepreneurship;
• to educate aspiring and practicing entrepreneurs in the art and science of value creation; and
• to serve the entrepreneurship community (broadly defined) through the effective design and delivery of value-added programs aimed at strengthening the economy.
