Fisher and BPMBPM is at its core a holistic understanding of a business and the practices that enable it and its people to perform at the highest levels. BPM is the antidote to conventional business practices that silo analysis, practice and tools, and that are increasingly ill equipped for a highly complex global business environment. BPM is also a perfect focus for Fisher, drawing as it does on the convergence of the theoretical and practical. This approach is in keeping with the larger charter of Fisher Research and Business Partnership Centers, which support teaching, research and development and provide a professional forum for exchange between faculty, students and the business community.
A Big TentBPM is a perfectly good descriptor and organizing principle for our work at the Center. Yet the performance management-oriented community also recognizes Corporate, Enterprise and even “x” as appropriate prefixes. There are some differences between these flavors but they are far outweighed by the similarities. In the end we’re agnostic about the descriptor but passionate about the benefits BPM/CPM/EPM/xPM provides.
