Intentional Inclusivity: Leveraging Diversity in Your Organization (Dec 2020)

Following the keynote address on a three-stage competency-based approach to diversity education (awareness, knowledge and skill) by Dr. Karen Townsend, a panel featuring Dr. Cynthia Turner, Chief Diversity Officer at Fisher College of Business, Marisa Afzali, Diversity & Inclusion Manager at Progressive Insurance and Nadine Blackburn, Head of Inclusion, Diversity & Corporate Social Responsibility at Electronic Arts, Inc. discussed diversity and inclusion strategies in their organizations.

Satisfaction: 94%

What attendees said:

I thought the speakers provided a tangible way to address the diversity, and inclusion questions within our own workplaces.

I loved the candid responses of all the speakers. We are in a time when we need to be change agents, and push for change. Having real discussions where actions can be taken, conversations can happen, and safe spaces can be created; is such a great start. We cannot allow for boxes to be checked and marginalized groups to continue being impacted in a negative way.

I enjoyed the insight that each speaker gave and the different things they are doing within their companies to be intentional. I learned a lot from the event and as a hiring manager I will be sure to be intentional when screening and interviewing applicants and make sure that my team is diverse.

The Curious Leader: How a Mindset of Curiosity Will Help You Succeed (Feb 2021)

This session, led by Bethany Klynn, President and Owner of Insight Leadership Consulting, explored how leaders can develop a mindset of curiosity (seeking new experiences and knowledge with an openness to change) including: the ways in which curiosity makes individuals, teams, and organizations more successful; how curiosity can make you a more effective leader; tips for cultivating curiosity; and steps to turn curiosity into competence.

Satisfaction: 94%

What attendees said:

This was a great event, really liked the subject and speaker. She was very knowledgeable. The subject of curiosity and growth mindset is very applicable for an organization's journey to excellence.

This was a great, timely topic with an engaging speaker. It communicated a more intangible topic into terms, concepts, strategies every person can understand, personalize and adopt. The vulnerability of the speaker sets this apart.

Bethany was fantastic; engaging and new content and perspective used for personal and work. My favorite of all the guest speakers I've attended at COE so far!

Maximizing Energy in an Increasingly Scary World (Nov 2020)

During this workshop, led by Cindy Maher and Jamie Guite of Leading Edge Coaching and Development, attendees had a chance to conduct a self-inventory of how they're doing within four wellsprings of energy and discuss what actions they can do to live their best life.

Satisfaction: 93%

What attendees said:

This webinar was fantastic, the speakers were highly engaging, funny, and great at translating the concepts in an easy to understand way. The breakout sessions were a great way to stay engaged and connect with others which also helped energize.

I loved the role playing that the presenters incorporated into the presentation. It was excellent and truly demonstrated what is going on in people lives and how much COVID has made an impact on our daily lives.

The delivery of the message was fantastic and interaction with the audience. Jamie was a hoot! She deserves an Oscar for her performance. Probably one of the best sessions yet.

Lean in Healthcare: At the Height of the Global Pandemic (April 2020)

This session focuses on how a culture of continuous improvement helped a New York hospital at the height of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Emily M. Jackson, BSM, MBOE, RN, NEA-BC, Director of Nursing for Divisions of Medicine and Neurosciences at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center,  discussed how their organization reacted and adapted quickly to the current crisis inside a hospital in one of the most impacted cities in America.

Satisfaction: 93%

What attendees said:

I loved the passion showed by Emily and the high knowledge on Lean concepts for a Nurse Director. That was remarkable.

It was good to hear how her standard work and visual management helped set the stage for overall success even when, during the "heat of battle" some things deteriorated. It is probably safe to say that her organization will bounce back much quicker because of everything that was in place prior to Patient Zero and everything that followed.

Emily reinforced my belief that leaders can move from the conceptual/theoretical to the functional quickly. Her ability to strategize yet see/hear the daily needs of her staff is exceptional. She also reminds us that we should have policies in place before crises occur.

Mental Toughness in Times of Great Change (July 2020)

In this session with Dr. Melissa Briggs-Phillips, Founder and CEO, Next Generation Behavioral Health, she covered actionable tips on how to manage your mind to better equip you to navigate challenges and change to be the leader your team needs as you move forward in the midst of sudden life changes.

Satisfaction: 92%

What attendees said:

The speaker was very energetic and gave great examples. It was nice to be able to see her in the small window in the corner. She gave a number of actionable guidelines throughout the presentation.

This topic applies to all aspects of life - everyone we interact with and, most definitely, myself. This provided enough fodder for many days contemplation! Thank you!

Love, love, love Dr. Briggs-Phillips. Her presentation on mental toughness and GRIT was so timely. I appreciate that she gave practical suggestions that we can do ourselves. Thanks for having her!
