Hi everyone, I'm Amarjoth Singh Walia, a second-year MBA student at Ohio State's Fisher College of Business. I recently completed my internship at Amazon as a Pathways Operations Intern at GEG1, Spokane, Washington. Fisher played a vital role in my application process for Amazon, providing me with the necessary tools, including interview preparation sessions, resume review & a vast network of alums who have joined the Pathways program. When I left India for my MBA, it was the company I dreamed of joining due to my passion for operations & supply chain management.

This past summer, I had the privilege of working at JPMorgan Chase & Co. as a Summer Associate for their Chase Associate Program (also known as CAP). CAP is JPMC’s leadership rotational program for MBA candidates and graduates. JPMC directly recruits Fisher MBA candidates, with recruitments starting as early as September. This summer, we had six Fisher MBA candidates working at the JPMC Polaris office in Columbus, Ohio. It definitely made the experience extra special knowing that I had friends to go through the summer with.

I was positively anxious in the days leading up to MBA orientation. College was just such a huge pile of unknowns. I don’t think I was alone in being worried about starting college — it’s a big deal! Everyone knows that, which is why everyone and their uncle’s friend's veterinarian’s cousin has advice for people who are about to start college. I received countless bits of wisdom regarding starting college on the right foot, but I guess only experience can tell you what to do.

The anticipation is finally over and here we are. The moment that I have waited for is here and it’s nothing short of a dream. I still remember how elated I was when I first got my admission letter and after what seemed like eons, we all arrived in Columbus, Ohio with a heart full of aspirations and needless to say that the college experience is exactly what I had hoped for and more! 

As summer started coming to an end, my email inbox started getting full of emails from all different departments at Ohio State. This made me feel anxious and a little overwhelmed but also very excited. I could not believe that after all the hard work that went into my application, the essays, the admission exams, and the interviews I was finally going to start my journey at Fisher College of Business.

One important aspect that attracted me to pursuing a Fisher MBA, as opposed to other MBA programs, is their emphasis and commitment to training MBA candidates in having a cross-functional approach when it comes to problem-solving and dealing with various business decisions. As first-year MBA students, we attend workshops and integration sessions every week that focus on connecting and merging the myriad of complementary disciplines we tackle in our core classes.
