In this blog post, I will share my experience with the nine graduate-level courses Fisher's Department of Accounting & Management Information Systems (AMIS/ACCTMIS) offers. If you have already accepted the offer for the Master of Accounting Program at Fisher and are figuring out your class schedule for Fall 2023, I hope this blog will be helpful. As the first semester of school came to an end, I could see how the business acumen of my peers and I had started increasing, and we started looking at different things from a business perspective. As my second semester here at Fisher is starting to ramp up, I set some time apart to reflect on some of the lessons I learned during my first semester and more specifically that I learned with my core team. During the first semester, we got paired up with some of our classmates based on many factors like personality traits, skills, and background. We had the chance to work together on a couple of different projects from case competitions to accounting projects.
Depending on the track that you take (either corporate finance or investment management), the Core Capstone project can look a little bit different. For the corporate track, you go through a valuation of a company through a corporate perspective. For the investment management track, the end deliverable is also a valuation but also a Buy/Sell/Hold rating.
