Whether you’re a student planning ahead or a high school counselor helping students navigate their options, use these resources to learn more about preparing for Fisher.
Prepare academically
A strong high school curriculum can help prepare you for the academic expectations of Fisher’s undergraduate business program. Consider coursework that strengthens your quantitative, analytical, writing and communication skills.
Students interested in business may benefit from courses in areas such as:
- Pre-calculus and calculus
- Statistics
- Economics
- English composition and writing
- Oral communication
Experiences outside the classroom can also help you learn more about your interests in business. Organizations such as DECA and FBLA, leadership activities, internships and other opportunities can provide early exposure to business and professional environments.
Taking college coursework in high school
College-level coursework can be a valuable way to challenge yourself academically and begin earning college credit before enrolling at Ohio State. However, completing college coursework in high school is not required for admission to Ohio State or Fisher, and students are not disadvantaged if these opportunities are not available through their high school.
Choosing courses
If you decide to take college-level coursework, consider courses that can help prepare you for future degree requirements. Mathematics, writing and communication courses can provide a useful academic foundation, while General Education subjects such as psychology, history and literature may also fulfill requirements depending on how the credit transfers.
Whenever possible, understand how a course will transfer to Ohio State before enrolling. A course that has an established Ohio State equivalent may be more useful toward degree requirements than coursework that transfers only as general, special or technical credit.
