Fisher undergraduates' name in lights in Times Square
A group of ten Fisher undergraduates’ names—along with their photograph--is up in lights in New York City’s Times Square. The students earned their place on the Great White Way, along with $5,000, after soaring to victory in American Eagle Outfitters’ marketing competition. The final round, which was held on Jan. 26 at the University of Pittsburgh, capped a quarter-long competition that began last autumn.
Teams competing in the event were tasked with developing a campaign for the 2010 back-to-school jeans promotion. Here at Fisher, three teams of 10 students each from the Honors Cohort program participated in the early round. The teams presented their campaign to executives from American Eagle, who visited Fisher’s campus as well as 17 other business schools across the country.
The Fisher team that developed the “Do it in Denim” campaign was selected as finalists. They competed against the University of Pittsburgh and Indiana University. The students presented their campaigns to company CEO James O’Donnell and other executive vice presidents at American Eagle headquarters in Pittsburgh.
