As my second semester here at Fisher is starting to ramp up, I set some time apart to reflect on some of the lessons I learned during my first semester and more specifically that I learned with my core team. During the first semester, we got paired up with some of our classmates based on many factors like personality traits, skills, and background. We had the chance to work together on a couple of different projects from case competitions to accounting projects.
With the onset of winter in Columbus, I got to experience what everyone had warned me of time and again. I had only heard from the alumni and the residents of the city about how harsh and cold the weather could get. I belong to a region where it never snows. Having experienced it firsthand now, I feel that every single bit of preparation was worth it.
With the third semester coming to a close, I'm almost all the way through my MBA. Looking back at this semester, I strongly feel I made the right decision by choosing to join Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. I was always interested in Operations and that was one of my motivating factors in selecting Fisher. My experience with the operations faculty has been phenomenal with all faculty members having not only in-depth knowledge of the subject but also real-world industry applications.
Being away from home is hard, but reality hits harder as the festive season comes around the corner and one realizes that their family won’t be there to celebrate with. But my joy knew no bounds when I knew that I was surrounded with warm and loving friends who stepped up and put together an amazing evening full of splendor and pomp.
The Fisher College of Business actively tries to organize events for students and their families to interact with each other and faculty outside of class. One of the most anticipated events is the Fall Fest, organized by the Fisher Student Council. The event is organized outdoors to enjoy the last few days of Fall before the winter sets in and was organized at Blacklick Woods Metro Park this year.

Ever since I made the vital decision to pursue an MBA, it has been all about balancing college studies while being on top of the internship hunt. This month started with the exhilaration of the much-anticipated NBMBAA (National Black MBA Association, Inc.) Conference. While participating in several career fairs and networking outside of it was a huge help, nothing compared to the NBMBAA Conference. With 250+ companies arriving at the fair, I felt like a child with a box of chocolates unable to choose the best one.
