Hi! As we near the end of the first session, I reflect on the balance between academic challenges and leisure activities. I describe our exciting paintball day, where 20 of us SMF students bonded over intense battles. Thanks to a friend's initiative, we also enjoyed a culinary adventure, trying delicious Indian dishes in Columbus. Our weekend wouldn't be complete without cheering for The Ohio State football team, and we celebrated a thrilling victory. Stay tuned for future blog posts about Columbus exploration, football game experiences, job-seeking, and more.

It seems like this program has flown by. It does not seem long ago when we were starting the SMF program with the two week pre-term class in August. And now, here we are, getting ready to graduate. The seven week classes makes this go by so quickly, but I have learned so much during my experience.

Navigating the networking process and job search can be intimidating and stressful at times. Figuring out what you are going to do after graduating from the SMF program can be exciting as well as daunting. One of my favorite things about the SMF program is the exposure that you get to action-based learning. Last Thursday, as a part of my Real Estate Finance class with Professor Stuckwisch, I had the opportunity to present an investment opportunity to an investment committee that included one Ohio State professor and four industry professionals. After presenting for 25 minutes, we then had 10 minutes of Q&A.

Depending on the track that you take (either corporate finance or investment management), the Core Capstone project can look a little bit different. For the corporate track, you go through a valuation of a company through a corporate perspective. For the investment management track, the end deliverable is also a valuation but also a Buy/Sell/Hold rating.

Now that we are officially finished with the core first-session classes, us SMF students have the chance to begin taking elective courses. This is the first time that we can begin to specialize in one of the four tracks: Corporate Finance, Investment Management, Risk Management, or Real Estate. I am working on the Investment Management track which influences my Core Capstone Project.

To those who are not familiar with THE Ohio State University, college football here is treated almost like a religion. It is deeply ingrained in the hearts of Ohioans. So, for someone who has lived in Ohio for most of my life, and who grew up a Buckeye fan, it probably seems shocking that I had never been to a game before.

Hi everyone! My name is Claire Hinkle, and I am just now starting my fourth week in the SMF Program at Fisher. In the first three weeks, I have taken a final, met with alumni, had several case discussions, completed a workshop with our Career Management Counselor, and am now beginning to ramp things up in the First Session Core Classes. So, while the undergraduate students have just finished syllabus week, we in the SMF program already feel at home here at Fisher. However, I realize that just a few weeks ago I was nervous to start the SMF program.
