Anyone who has followed or read my past posts knows I came to Fisher to pursue an MBA in Operations and Supply Chain. Still, the beauty of an MBA is that you have the opportunity to explore your other interests and subjects that can add value to your decision-making. Classes on marketing and analytics sparked an interest and I was looking to further my knowledge in these fields.

My passion was to pursue a career in Operations and that motivated me to consider Fisher College of Business while applying given the ranking of the department. My advice to interested students on the top courses would beSix Sigma PrinciplesThis a must-take class for all students considering operations as a future. Both the faculty who take the class are highly knowledgeable and have tons of industry experience between them that adds a lot of value, especially in classroom discussions.

With the third semester coming to a close, I'm almost all the way through my MBA. Looking back at this semester, I strongly feel I made the right decision by choosing to join Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. I was always interested in Operations and that was one of my motivating factors in selecting Fisher. My experience with the operations faculty has been phenomenal with all faculty members having not only in-depth knowledge of the subject but also real-world industry applications.

The Fisher College of Business actively tries to organize events for students and their families to interact with each other and faculty outside of class. One of the most anticipated events is the Fall Fest, organized by the Fisher Student Council. The event is organized outdoors to enjoy the last few days of Fall before the winter sets in and was organized at Blacklick Woods Metro Park this year. We were lucky to enjoy a day of sunshine at the park with a lot of fun games including soccer and frisbee.

Looking back at the first half of the fall semester, there are tons of differences between the two years of the MBA program. During the first year, the class sizes seem smaller since there is only one common class with other classes being electives. The year is more focused on your choice of specialization and you spend more time with people who are interested in similar fields. I had come into to program stressed about the job market after COVID and the low turnout at career fairs only added to the stress.
