If you had a free day in Columbus, how would you spend it? It’s a tougher question than it might seem. 

October 31, 2025, could easily be crowned Columbus’ Most Social Day. There seemed to be something happening at every corner of the city. After a long, exhausting week of midterm tests and a few final exams, I decided it was time to close the books and enjoy some well-deserved fun.

The Master of Accounting (MAcc) program is a great way to not only develop technical accounting knowledge, but also essential leadership and soft skills. The program is designed to thoughtfully incorporate diverse electives, a STEM-Designation curriculum, and to create well-rounded accounting professionals.

When I started my MBA journey at Fisher, I arrived in Columbus full of academic expectations and, honestly, a lot of curiosity. Coming from Peru—a country where sports are pure emotion but move to a different rhythm—I did not expect to find a community whose heartbeat seemed to sync with one single sport: football.

One of the main reasons I chose the Fisher MHRM program was its focus on learning by doing. I did not want a degree that only lived in textbooks. I wanted one that challenged me to apply ideas, solve real-world problems, and learn alongside people with diverse perspectives.

One of the things I have quickly come to appreciate as an MBA student at Fisher College of Business is how much the school invests in our career development. Within the first month of the program, we had two big career fairs relevant to MBAs: the Ohio State Finance x Financial Planning Career Fair and the Fisher Fall Business Career Fair, both held on September 8 and 9, 2025.

MBA life is full of opportunities and you will have to take your time to plan those opportunities which align with your life. This fall, I found one such opportunity.
