As my graduation in May approaches, I’m amazed at how much Fisher’s two-semester MAcc program at The Ohio State University has aided my job search. In just a few months, I’ve gained valuable professional connections, explored potential employers, and received incredible guidance from faculty and alums—all of which have set me up for success.

Recently, I attended a Cleveland Guardians playoff game with my classmates from the MAcc program, and it reminded me of the importance of balancing work and play in grad school. In this post, I share five key takeaways from the game, highlighting how playoff energy mirrors the drive for success in our studies, the value of bonding beyond the classroom, and how casual experiences like attending a game help build genuine professional connections. I also discuss the importance of balancing hard work with moments of fun to avoid burnout and how teamwork and leadership show up both on and off the field. Attending that game with classmates was a powerful reminder that grad school isn’t just about academics; it’s about building lasting relationships and creating shared memories that enrich the experience. As summer’s warmth fades and a crisp breeze begins to sweep through the air, Columbus is bathed in the golden light of autumn. The trees blush with brilliant reds, oranges, and yellows, transforming the city’s streets and parks into vibrant, living art. There's something magical about fall—the way the earth seems to slow down, the quiet crunch of leaves underfoot, and the sweet, comforting scent of apple cider and pumpkin spice in the air. It’s a season that invites us to pause, reflect, and celebrate the harvest and beauty all around us.

As our Director Dr. Lori Kendall says, “Our MBAs are Day-Zero Ready” – her vision is reflected well in the structure of our MBA program. Diving deep into an ocean of academic knowledge is customary of almost all MBA programs across the board, but what sets our journey truly apart is the immediate access to the industry.  Without any additional requirements or fee we are given the opportunity to be a part of one of the four Career and Industry Immersion Academies (CIIAs), including: 

Fisher’s focus on real-world learning shines through its unique Career Academies, which emphasize hands-on, experiential education. Our MBA Class of 2026 recently engaged in a Nestlé excursion featuring mini-case presentations and executive insights, started by an Alumni Mixer in Cleveland. These immersive Career Academy experiences develop industry perspectives and foster connections, preparing us to lead with agility and confidence in our careers.

Fisher MHRM students recently completed the annual PepsiCo sponsored case competition, a 24-hour competition where upcoming December 2025 grads were grouped into teams of four or five students and tasked with developing and presenting a solution to a real-world business challenge.
