Get Involved as a MAcc Student (Three Opportunities of Which You Should Be Aware)
Hi everyone,
Welcome to my fourth blog for the MACC program. In this blog post, I will talk about the three main categories of involvement opportunities available to Fisher MAcc students.
The first main category is MAcc and Fisher-related. After you begin the program in August, every Fisher MAcc student will have the opportunity to hold an office in MAcc Council. This year, I am the VP for the MAcc Council. To give back to the community, we have planned the annual "MAcc Gives Back" (taking place Nov. 5th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and partnered with Mid-Ohio Food Collective. You can find a similar Fisher-wide event here: the "Fisher Impact Day", (Nov. 11th for each year). In the spring, the MAcc Council will help with the Fisher Tax Clinic as part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. More information about the Fisher Tax Clinic.
You will also be exposed to MAcc Talks, which allows you to learn from the best from both academics and professionals in accounting. View a list of speakers.
During the final weeks of the Fall/Autumn semester, the MAcc Fall Reception is often held in the Faculty Club at Ohio State to celebrate with your classmates and MAcc faculty members.
The second category is focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. For instance, you can earn a certification in DICE (Diversity, Intercultural, and Community Engagement) or Global Engagement.
The third category is the Ohio State campus-wide, associated with the Office of Student Life. You can attend a football game and Buckeyethon, or join the Thanksgiving Dinner and the Taste of OSU events.
In brief, there are so many involvement opportunities and you should choose the ones that excite and fit you best.
