Helpful professors/classmates during a global pandemic

One of our students experienced their worst fear; getting sick during finals week. And of course, it isn't your regular ole' cold going around due to the drastic temperature drops… it's COVID. Luckily, we have caring and attentive staff/classmates at Ohio State.

The student was studying and feeling a bit under the weather and decided to get tested for COVID; low and behold, it came back positive. With only 3 hours until the final, the student pushed back the shock and acted fast to get everything in line. The student immediately emailed the professor with the news, and within the hour, received an understanding and helpful response. The professor set up a Zoom link on CarmenCanvas and ensured that the final was as close to an in-person experience as possible. Fisher's quick response meant that having COVID didn't create additional stress or undesired impacts.

After the exam, the student needed to figure out other classes/finals. It came as no surprise when all the professors were just as understanding and helpful. Everyone quickly responded with Zoom links and support. The student felt wholly taken care of and not worried, prioritizing health over finding alternative solutions to finals week.

It's not only Fisher faculty and staff that are abundantly helpful but also classmates. We're all willing to help in whatever way possible, from sending notes during class reducing the feeling of Zoom isolation to offering to get groceries while in quarantine. We're here for each other. At Fisher, you'll find cohorts of amazing people supporting each other academically and personally at one of the best universities in the country. Get to know your peers and faculty as early as possible. Extraordinary life-long connections await future Buckeyes.
