Fisher Spring Career Fair 2022
Hi everyone!
The spring semester has begun with snow and a chill in the air. I enjoyed my winter break relaxing with my family, but I was very eager to come back to campus to connect with my classmates and professors. I have enjoyed the project-based scope of my classes this term and am excited to learn new information.
MBA internship recruiting has also presented itself with new opportunities to connect with recruiters virtually and in person. The Fisher Spring Career Fair was hosted by the Office of Career Management via a hybrid format for two days this semester; the first day was in-person, and the second day was held virtually. I attended the Spring Career Fair and wanted to share my thoughts with those interested in learning about recruiting events!
The career fair was held in the Ohio Union, on the north side of campus, about a 10-15-minute walk from Gerlach Hall. The event was held in the Ohio Union Archie Griffin Ballroom and Performance Hall. The layout was well organized, and students could check in their coats and backpacks on the main floor. The Fisher Alumni Relations Office also provided students with free professional headshots!
With over 140 companies registered to attend the event, it can be a little daunting at first glance for a prospective applicant. Before attending the event, I outlined my game plan with targeted companies and prepared elevator pitches. I utilized resources such as VMock to concisely prepare a 30-second pitch personalized to each target company. I also utilized Handshake to research the companies and messaged recruiters before attending the career fair to make an impact.
- All in all, it was an excellent opportunity to speak with recruiters in person and take home some goodies! I would strongly suggest that graduate students attend career fairs and complete homework prior to attending the event to maximize the impact.
