No Football Tickets? No Problem! A Guide to Cheering on the Buckeyes without Season Tickets

October is a great time of year in Columbus! The weather is cooling down, the leaves have vibrant hues of orange and red, and Ohio State Football season is in full swing!

Don't have tickets to the games? No problem! I have cheered on the Buckeyes with and without season tickets. Here are a few alternatives to still enjoy cheering on Ohio State if you do not hold season tickets.

Host a Watch Party

Grab some friends, cook up some burgers and hotdogs, and cheer on the Buckeyes from the comfort of your own home. Watch parties are a fun way to watch football in a more intimate setting. Watch parties can either be at your home or a loved one's and offer a more comfortable environment for those who get overwhelmed by big crowds. The games can be streamed from a variety of platforms, such as ESPN and streaming services like Peacock.

Go to a Local Bar & Grill

There's an endless number of bars and restaurants that play the game live as it is happening! These places offer a more diverse menu of food compared to stadium food (nothing beats a hotdog from the Shoe, though!) and provides a fun atmosphere to cheer on the Buckeyes in public. Watch with your friends and enjoy the restaurant ambiance, gameday food and drink specials, and fellow enthusiastic restaurant goers looking for a fun way to watch the game! Some fun suggestions of mine are Bristol Republic, Short North Pint House, and Parlay.

Didn't get tickets but still want to cheer on the Buckeyes from the Shoe? No problem! As a student of Ohio State, you can verify your OSU email address and have access to the online student ticket exchange app Ticket Bay. Ticket Bay is a free app that allows students to buy and sell tickets, typically for cheap. This app is trusted by many undergraduate and graduate students alike and has tickets to buy and sell for each game. I was able to sell my ticket to the Michigan State game due to a personal conflict that came up, and was also able to purchase tickets for family members who visited me for a gameday with ease!
