First Big Ten Game in the Shoe!
One of the many, many perks of choosing to stay at Ohio State after my undergrad and pursuing a Master's degree at Fisher was the chance to re-enter the student section in the Shoe and watch the Buckeyes take the field. Thankfully, even as graduate students, we are still eligible to purchase student tickets for the OSU football games. The packages include discounted tickets for students, either for all home games (the full package) or just the home games where we play the other teams in our conference (Big Ten package). I decided to go for just the Big Ten tickets this year, and this weekend was the first game I had tickets to, meaning I got to go back to the Shoe after over two years!
Even as someone who is not a die-hard football fan, I will always make it a point to purchase the student tickets to see the Bucks and cheer them on. I think that beyond the game itself, it is one of my favorite ways to feel the OSU spirit and be among my peers in the most fun, exciting way. It brings my friends and I together every weekend, I get to socialize with my classmates there, and it gives us something to look forward to all semester long. Nothing takes the edge off a tough week in school like a lively football game, especially in the Shoe.
Being in the stadium, you can just feel the liveliness of the fans. One of my favorite things about attending the football games is the incredible atmosphere you feeling sitting in the stadium, especially in the student section. The energy is unbelievable and it really feels like you are part of the community. This game in particular was against Maryland, where OSU defeated them 66 to 17. It was a noon game, the weather was beautiful, and overall the perfect way to spend an autumn Saturday in Columbus.
