Stories from graduate students at Fisher College of Business

Beginning My MAcc Journey! (With Some MAcc Application Tips and Tricks)

Hello!

My name is Ashlynn Thevenot, and I am a Master of Accounting student at the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. I also earned my undergraduate degree in accounting here at OSU. Over the past four years, I’ve enjoyed countless football games, other sporting events, and active involvement in student organizations. OSU has truly felt like home! Growing up in Ohio, I always felt a pull towards OSU, and I’m excited to continue my journey here in the MAcc program.

The beginning of the program started with a three-day orientation that gave us insight into what the year would look like and the opportunities the MAcc program offers outside of the classroom. The faculty and staff have been incredibly supportive as we start this journey.

Through this program, I look forward to making new connections and deepening my knowledge through the courses and electives. One class I am especially excited about is Professional Research in Accounting this quarter. The flexibility and variety of electives were one of the main reasons I chose Fisher’s MAcc program.

The following week after orientation was the start of classes. During the first two weeks of classes, we have hit the ground running and started some group work. I look forward to the multiple group projects this quarter and being able to work with different peers.

If you are considering applying to Fisher’s MAcc program, I’ll be documenting my journey here to give you a glimpse of what life in the program looks like!

As someone who recently went through the application process, here’s one piece of advice: start early! The program admits students on a rolling basis, and applying early can increase your chances of receiving a scholarship. Getting ahead on tasks such as requesting transcripts, test scores, and contacting references will make the process much smoother. The Graduate Programs Office at Fisher is also a fantastic resource for answering questions and helping you navigate the application process.

Go Buckeyes!
