Falling for Columbus
Between classes, work, and extracurricular activities, it can be hard to believe that it’s possible to enjoy all that autumn has to offer here in Columbus. However, even in all the hustle and bustle of the Fall semester, it is more than worth it to make some time to explore the wonderful things that both the Ohio State Campus and Columbus have to offer in the months before winter begins.
On campus, there are numerous events that occur during the first semester of the academic year. Notably, Ohio State football games attract thousands of fans each year. Attending a Buckeye football game is a right of passage for graduate and undergraduate students alike. Grab some friends, some snacks, and some buckeye gear and plan a weekend to head up to a game. In addition to these festive sporting events, the Fisher College of Business offers several social events specifically targeted towards graduate business students. These events, such as alumni networking nights, offer a unique opportunity to connect with your classmates and fellow students and make long-lasting friendships. Between legendary Ohio State Football games and these on-campus events, it is difficult not to enjoy autumn on campus.
When you need a break from the crowds and hustle of the Ohio State campus, there are dozens of great activities for students to enjoy in the city of Columbus. Most notably, many students opt to go apple picking at one of the local orchards. There is nothing like enjoying the bright colors of the changing leaves and sipping a warm mug of apple cider as you walk the orchards. Those that enjoy outdoor adventures can also explore one of Columbus’s many MetroParks or surrounding state parks. Personally, I find Sharon Woods Metro Park in Westerville to be a great spot to spend an autumn Saturday. Hiking the picturesque autumn trails is another wonderful way to spend fall days here in Columbus. Coffee enthusiasts can also find fall themed drinks at local spots all around the city. Foodies will find autumn inspired dishes at Columbus’s premier restaurants. There is no shortage of joy to be found in autumn in Columbus.
