First Impression of SMF
Hi everyone!
I am Elsa Zhao! I’m a SMF Program Ambassador for Fisher. Throughout my journey here at Fisher I will post blogs to share my experience here in the program with you and offer more information from a student's perspective.
I am originally from Nanjing, China and graduated from Fisher for undergrad (a loyal Buckeye!). After my undergrad, I worked in public accounting for a few years before deciding to pursue a career change into finance.
After multiple travel-related challenges, I finally arrive Columbus and was so excited to start school again. Even though I was disappointed that most on-campus classes and activities were moved to virtual due to COVID, I was pleasantly surprised and excited that the transition to online instruction was smooth. I can confidently tell from my first few months of classes that the quality of online delivery is just as effective as in-person. For the in-person portion of classes (part of the hybrid teaching model), students were broken into smaller sections to accommodate social-distancing. One delight is that students are actually enjoying the smaller class setting and developing more close-knit relationships with classmates.
So far, my first semester of the SMF program has been both fulfilling and fun. Now that Session 1 classes have come to an end, I am very much looking forward to Session 2 where the classes are mostly electives and students get to customize our schedules based on individual interests. How exciting!
