My First Week Back - Spring Semester
With the new year comes a new semester, a new team, new classes, and new opportunities in the MBA program! I am so glad that Fisher allows us a good month to breathe, regain our energy, and enjoy our break before coming back to take on the spring semester. Now, I am ready to take on the semester and build from all the things I learned last semester. Here is a quick overview of how my first week back went.
Goodbye Old Team and Hello New One
I had such a great core team experience last semester. Our team had a great dynamic. Surprisingly, people look at me whenever I describe how much fun our group had. Our team debrief last Friday was bittersweet as we recalled all the things we’ve accomplished as a team and took notes on the aspects we could improve on. Although I am sad to say goodbye to my old team, I am excited to work with new people and build on my skills from last semester.
New Classes and Electives
I am very excited about the classes I am taking this semester. For our core MBA classes, we have Global Business, Strategy, Business Lab Challenge, and Data Analysis. These core classes build from our core classes last semester. On top of my core classes, I am also taking Negotiations and Financial Modeling. I am particularly excited about my electives because they will be very useful and will help in ensuring I am “Day Zero Ready.” I deliberately chose classes that will provide me with practical skills I know I will use in my career.
Overall Experience So Far
I am not going to sugarcoat it; this semester will be very challenging and demanding, especially with my commitments at the law school. However, I believe that Fisher provides me with the tools I need to be able to be successful. I am also blessed to be in a supportive and collaborative cohort. I was able to strive and be successful partly because of them, and I’m sure they will be a source of strength for me this semester as well.
