About Honors Contract: Through Industry Clusters

The new Honors Contract: Through Industry Clusters program at the Fisher College of Business offers students the opportunity to tailor their honors experience by selecting an industry for in-depth study and a minor or second concentration outside of business to suit their personal interests and career goals.

Students can select from one of eight clusters, including:

  • Business Analytics (led by Professor Ralph Greco) whose industry partners include: JP Morgan Chase, Scotts Miracle Gro, and Teradata
  • Consulting (This cluster is under construction for Autumn 2014)
  • Consumer Package Goods (led by Dr. Vasu Unnava) whose industry partners include: Procter & Gamble, Kroger and The J.M. Smucker Company
  • Energy & Sustainability (led by Dr. Neil Drobny) whose industry partners include: Alcoa, Dow Chemical, and Owens Corning
  • Financial Services (led by Professor Robert Lane) whose industry partners include: Huntington National Bank, Morgan Stanley and Nationwide Insurance
  • Health Care (led by Dr. Mrinalini Gadkari) whose industry partners include: Abbott Nutrition, Boehringer Ingelheim Roxane Inc, Cardinal Health, Nationwide Children's Hospital, The James Cancer Hospital and OSU Wexner Medical Center
  • Manufacturing (led by Dr. Andrea Prud’homme) whose industry partners include: Alcoa, Honda and GE Aviation
  • Middle Markets (led by Dr. Anil Makhija and Professor Doug Farren in Autumn 2014)

Junior Year:

Senior Year:

Graduation Requirements:

To graduate with Honors in Business Administration and Research Distinction, students in the Honors Contract: Through Industry Clusters Program must complete the following:

Completion of Honors Contract Curriculum

  • Complete the five (5) course honors curriculum with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5
  • Completion of at least 4 additional honors or upper-division (4000-level) courses. No more than two honors 1000 or 2000 level courses may be counted. 
  • Maintain at least an overall GPA of 3.5 for all business and accounting honors courses and at least a GPA of 3.5 for all business specialization courses
  • Documented completion of a minor, or secondary concentration outside of business

Completion of Industry Research Project

  • An industry research proposal must be approved by the end of the student’s first year in the program
  • Submission, acceptance and presentation of an industry research report must be completed by the end of the student’s third semester (Autumn of Senior Year) in the program

Mentoring of a student team

  • Successfully mentor an Industry Cluster team through a Spring project by the end of the student’s fourth and final semester in the program
