Background

Dr. Bill Rives joined Ohio State in January 2002, after seven years with the Graduate School of Business at Franklin University (Columbus), to help Fisher College develop executive and professional education programs in financial planning, insurance and risk management.  During a career spanning more than four decades, in addition to Franklin and Ohio State, Bill has held teaching and research appointments at Duke, Princeton, Rice, Trinity University (San Antonio), and the University of Delaware.  His consulting engagements include Aetna Life Insurance Company, USAA Life Insurance Company, USAA Real Estate Company, HCA Healthcare Corporation, the National Institute on Aging, the National Institute of Mental Health, the US Department of Commerce, and various federal, state and regional regulatory agencies.

At Ohio State, Bill develops and teaches online courses on the Principles of Insurance and Risk, Commercial Insurance (Property and Casualty), Life and Health Insurance, and Employee Benefit and Retirement Planning.

Bill holds the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), the Registered Health Underwriter (RHU®), and the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) professional designations.  He also is a licensed insurance agent & broker in Ohio.  Bill has been working in the insurance and financial services industry, as a general agent, educational consultant, and market (new-product) analyst, for more than three decades.
