Background

Katie M. Culbertson is an accomplished project manager and marketing communications professional with 20 years of experience in educational institutions and non-profit organizations.

As the Associate Marketing and Communications Director for The Ohio State University Max M. Fisher College of Business, Katie leads the planning and implementation of marketing communications campaigns and initiatives for advancement, including alumni relations, development, events, and stewardship.

She currently serves on University Senate as an elected Staff Senator and as an appointed staff representative on the Senate Committee for Academic Technology.

Katie began her Ohio State career in 2006 in University Development, where she was quickly promoted to serve as Director of Marketing Services and successfully led a creative team to execute marketing campaigns, raising millions of dollars. In 2013, she joined the College of Engineering as the Dean’s Executive Assistant, providing high-level strategic support on the college’s leadership team.

Prior to Ohio State, Katie launched her professional career in local non-profits, serving as a grants writer for Ohio Business Week Foundation and as Director of Marketing for Opera Columbus.

Passionate about project management, Katie earned her Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification in 2014 and her Agile Hybrid Project ProTM micro-credential in 2021.

A lifelong Buckeye, Katie majored in English, with a focus in creative writing, and Women’s Studies, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors from Ohio State in 2000. During her undergraduate studies, she studied English Literature at Bath Spa University College in England, interned at The White House Office for Women’s Initiatives and Outreach, and marched in The Ohio State University Marching Band.
