Application Materials

  • Personal Resume

An updated copy of your resume, listing work experience and career progression. Applicants must have at least three to five years of professional work experience.

  • College Transcripts

    Electronic Delivery:

Did you attend a state (public) university in Ohio or a community college? When ordering a transcript from your prior school, request that your transcript(s) be sent electronically. Sending paper transcripts by mail or overnight delivery will delay processing time.

For all other institutions, if your school offers electronic delivery, choose that option to avoid processing delays. If ordering a transcript online, select The Ohio State University as a recipient. In the absence of a list of universities to select, have your school send your transcript directly to

    US Mail:

If your school does not offer electronic delivery, please have your transcript(s) mailed to the address below:

    The Ohio State University
    Graduate/Professional Admissions
    PO Box 182004
    Columbus, OH 43218-2004

Transcripts should not be delivered by the student or sent to other addresses on campus. Doing so will prevent acceptance of the transcript as official, and a transfer credit evaluation will not be completed.

Note: You do not have to submit transcripts for course work or degrees received from The Ohio State University. These can be obtained internally by the MBOE program.

  • Letters of Recommendation

Please arrange to have three recommendations prepared by an immediate supervisor, previous employer or a person familiar with your qualifications and potential for graduate study. You will have the option of allowing your recommendations to be submitted electronically or in paper form. Instructions are provided for either method within the online application.

  • Employer Sponsors

A company letter of support from your employer. Endorsement of your candidacy by your employer, including an explicit commitment of financial resources (if applicable) and time, as well as an endorsement of the capstone project are critical factors in the admission decision. A prepared letter is available within the online application.

  • Sponsor Involvement Video

This short video introduces the role of the sponsor in the employee/student's capstone project.  We have found that active participation by the sponsor is a key ingredient to maximizing the success of the student on their project. It is requried that your sponsor view the video as part of your application.

  • Interview

You are expected to participate in an interview to review your academic as well as your managerial experience. Your sponsor is required to attend the interview with you. Be prepared to describe projects you have handled that demonstrate your management skills as well as your capstone project ideas.

It is important that you and your potential sponsor are prepared for the interview discussion. Because of this, the sponsor is required to watch a short online video that explains the expectations as the sponsor in support of your project and coursework.

You will be contacted by the program director to schedule an interview once a complete application packet is submitted and information is received verifying the video has been watched by the sponsor.

  • Application Fee

The non-refundable application fee is $60 for domestic applicants and $70 for international. The application fee increases to $200 if you apply after June 30, 2017.

  • Test Scores

Some candidates may be asked to take the GMAT if their undergraduate GPA is below a 3.0 or for other reasons. If this is required, please have the test scores sent directly to the Fisher College of Business, School Code #ZLJ-9D-47. If you have any questions regarding the possibility of having to submit a GMAT score, please contact Marlena Spikes at

International applicants follow the same process as Domestic Applicants. Please make note of these additional requirements.

  • Foreign Transcripts

Applicants submitting transcripts from foreign institutions must provide official transcripts (originator certified) of all post secondary academic coursework and a certified English translation of their credentials, if the originals are not in English.

Note:  Certification must be obtained from a university/school official, embassy official, the Ministry of Education or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Certification by a notary public 18 is not acceptable.

Please contact Beth Miller for more information at or 614-292-8575.

  • English Proficiency

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) Candidates whose native language is not English must demonstrate fluency in English by taking the TOEFL. If you hold a bachelor’s or graduate degree from a U.S. institution or from an institution in another English-only speaking country, you may receive a waiver of the TOEFL. Fisher does accept Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in lieu of TOEFL.

Applicants who are citizens of, or who have received a bachelor’s degree or higher in, one of the following countries are exempt from the TOEFL requirement: Anguilla, Antigua, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Caicos Islands, Canada (except Quebec), Cayman Islands, Dominica, England, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Liberia, Montserrat, New Zealand, Scotland, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks, United States and Wales.

MELAB:    86 (Primarily given only in United States and Canada)
